Fishing

*** The “Guaranteed Price Timer” is an expiration timer! ***

Two hours and twenty five minutes will keep your fish at a guaranteed price of 100%. You want to try to sell your fish within this time, which shouldn’t be all that difficult, even with moving to your furthest connected node to sell.
Five hours into your timer will drop your guaranteed price to somewhere between 80% and 85%.
When the timer expires, you get the rock bottom price of 30% for the fish. You can, at any time, dry the fish for use in cooking or to sell on the marketplace. Even if the timer expires, you can still dry the fish for sale or use in recipes.

Keep in mind that fishing rods are an investment! It is very costly to upgrade the artisan rods (Calpheon, Epheria, etc). You need 1 additional rod of the same type to recover max durability. So, to go to +1 with a Calpheon, you need 2 Calpheon Fishing Rods and a Weapon Blackstone. Make sure you choose your rods wisely!

I am personally using the Epheria rod for AFK fishing, as it gains 10 durability each time you upgrade it. It starts with a durability of 50, which goes to 60 at +1, 70 at +2, 80 at +3, and so on. If you are going to be gone for hours, this is the rod to get and upgrade for AFK fishing during your sleep time or when you will be gone for several hours.

The Boat, The Rods, and The Clothes

Anyone can use these rods, regardless of fishing proficiency level-

  • Old Fishing Rod
  • Fishing Rod
  • Balenos Fishing Rod
  • Epheria Fishing Rod

These rods require that you reach a certain proficiency level before you can use them-

  • Thick Fishing Rod – Requires Beginner 10 Rank – Fishing Speed +1 Levels
  • Steel Fishing Rod – Requires Skilled 5 Rank – Fishing Speed +2 Levels
  • Golden Fishing Rod – Requires Artisan 1 Rank – Fishing Speed +3 Levels
  • Mediah Fishing Rod – Requires Artisan 1 Rank – Increased chance to catch a rare fish
  • Calpheon Fishing Rod – Requires Professional 1 Rank – Increased chance to catch a big fish

These are the items I am going for, to support my newfound fishing addiction, along with their materials lists, and some further information you may find useful-

Fishing Boat

You need a Level 2 Shipyard to build a Fishing Boat. The closest one to Velia is Iliya Island. You need 5 CP to connect Velia to Iliya, if you wish to use Velian workers on Iliya.

Required Materials

  • 25 Usable Scantling
  • 50 Birch Plywood
  • 25 Bronze Ingot
  • 30 Pine Sap
  • 30 Black Stone Powder
  • 16 Flax Fabric

Silver Embroidered Fisher’s Clothes

Anyone can wear these clothes.
Fishing Level +1 & Movement Speed Level +1
You need a Level 1 Costume Mill to make the Silver Embroidered Fisher’s Clothes. The closest one is in Heidel.

*** In order to enhance clothes, you need to use another set of the same clothes ***
I would recommend that if you want to try getting better clothes, make 3 sets before you attempt enhancement. This can fail on the first shot like accessories. I had to scramble to make another set for my daily AFK fishing because both went POOF. Provided it works on your first try, you can always sell the 3rd set you made for a nice little profit!

At +1, the bonuses become: Fishing Level +1 & Movement Speed Level +1, +10% Fishing Experience
At +2, the bonuses become: Fishing Level +2 & Movement Speed Level +2, +15% Fishing Experience
At +3, the bonuses become: Fishing Level +2 & Movement Speed Level +2, +20% Fishing Experience
At +4, the bonuses become: Fishing Level +2 & Movement Speed Level +3, +25% Fishing Experience
At +5, the bonuses become: Fishing Level +3 & Movement Speed Level +4, +35% Fishing Experience

Required Materials

  • 10 Flax Fabric
  • 10 Powderof Time
  • 15 Black Stone Powder

Epheria Fishing Rod

Anyone can use this rod.
You need a Level 3 Tool Workshop to build an Epheria Fishing Rod. The closest one is in Heidel.
When you upgrade this rod, it gains durability, which (in my opinion), makes it the best rod for AFK auto-fishing.
Each +1 adds 10 durability to this rod. You will need another rod to recover max durability.

Required Materials

  • 1 Birch Timber
  • 2 Steel
  • 5 Pure Iron Crystal
  • 9 Monk’s Branch
  • 15 Black Stone Powder

Mediah Fishing Rod

You must have your fishing proficiency at Artisan 1 rank to use this rod.
You need a Level 3 Tool Workshop to build a Mediah Fishing Rod. The closest one is in Heidel.
When you upgrade this rod, it gains an increased chance to catch a rare fish.

Required Materials

  • 1 White Cedar Timber
  • 2 Steel
  • 5 Pure Zinc Crystal
  • 9 Monk’s Branch
  • 15 Black Stone Powder

Maple Float

You must have your fishing proficiency at Artisan 1 rank to use this item.
Increase chance to catch a rare fish. Useful, no?
You need a Level 2 Tool Workshop to make this float. The closest one is in Heidel.

Required Materials

  • 1 Maple Timber
  • 3 Oil of Tranquility
  • 2 Red Crystal
  • 2 Pure Lead Crystal

I will discuss the other rods and floats in another article.

Silver Potential

These are just a few examples of the kind of silver you can make off fishing. Keep in mind that to make the most, you need all the nodes connected from where you are fishing to where you want to turn in.

In these examples, I fished at Baremi Island and turned in at Trina Fort, because I don’t have anything beyond there connected up yet. I also turned in before my timer dropped the price at 2.5 hours.
I AFK fished while I left to run some errands for just about 2.5 hours. To give you an idea of what you can make while fishing, I pulled in 353,788 silver in fish. Keep in mind this was AFK fishing. If I was actually fishing, I would have filled my bag quicker and made even more.

Fish NameGradeList PriceMarket Price AdjustmentTotal Silver

 Porgy Gold 21,000 109% 31,580
 Swordfish Blue 6,000 130% 10,759
 Sea Eel Blue 5,940 118% 9,697
 Trout Green 2,640 128% 4,643

Distance Bonuses

Nodes must be connected in order for you to gain distance bonuses!
I am unsure how these are calculated right now, whether they are a flat percentage, or if your trade skill, or even amity with traders, modifies it in any way.

I do not believe these follow the distance along your connected nodes, but the distance directly from where you caught to where you turn in. I have everything from Iliya Island going through Velia to Heidel City, then down to Glish, through Keplan, Trina Fort and ending at Calpheon connected, but as you can see, at the Node Manager who doubles as a Trader at the Beacon Entrance, bonuses drop to 21%, then down to 20% at Calpheon. For now, it seems, the best money making trip would be from Baremi Island or even Iliya Island down to Trina Fort for the 37% bonus.

Baremi Island ⇒Velia »15%
Baremi Island ⇒Heidel City »23%
Baremi Island ⇒Glish »30%
Baremi Island ⇒Keplan »32%
Baremi Island ⇒Trina Fort »37%
Baremi Island ⇒Beacon Entrance »21%
Baremi Island ⇒Oberen Farm »21%
Baremi Island ⇒Calpheon »20%
